a talking hug

it was a sweet cold january night. a slight breeze was blowing across the street. the night was truly in all its glory but it was the city of lights. the canals glistened in the christmas lights hanging on the buidlings. he was pushing the bicycle along the stoned streets. as they turned around the corner a beautiful view came into sight. the brown buildings towered on both sides of the wide road. with christmas just celebrated, the fetivities were still apparent in the lights. the buildings were garlanded with lights, hanging from the middle of streets and it lit up the street such that the reflection on the water was glitteringly beautiful.

as they passed over the bridge of the canal and passed slowly over the winding road he was in his own world. he was immersed in explaining what was around them. the roads, the buildings, the shops etc. he couldnt stop talking, rather he was enjoying. she looked at him from the corner of her eyes. she felt warm, she felt happy in this big world. one day she was suddenly lost and another she felt like she owned the place. she laughed at one of his jokes, more with happiness than laughter. there was something about the way he talked that made him so dynamic.

he didnt notice her, he didnt think it was important to look at her. but suddenly he felt her embrace. he stopped in his tracks. she just turned around and gave him a hug that stopped his thoughts. he felt touched, he felt his soul being talked to. his stance softened a bit. it felt long but not long enough. he stopped talking , it was at this moment he truly felt being present in the moment. he hugged her warmly wanting to say whatever it is that you want to say through that hug i deeply appreciate it. the moments felt deeply static. as she glanced at him , he could see her soft blue eyes. wanting to say a million things but scared of what lay beyond her. there was the canal true, but there was a bridge too.
